Important point: Resubmission would not help you speed up your listing if the site is already listed by Google. When you search 'Google submit' you can find the page where sites are submitted. Expectedly, their page would be right on top of the list but there are other means also by which you can make them select your site and that also in a quicker way.

A novel way to get Google to notice your site is via links from sites which are heavily crawled. Using online directories and there are plenty of them could of course be the best and the most effective way. Google has the habit of scrutinizing top level directories regularly and when any site has links from these the site also gets noticed quicker.

Depending on your monetary resources and preferences, you could choose between free and paid subscription directories. The best type to choose are the business directories which deal with your line of business since Google looks for commonality while indexing your site. You site ought to be dealing with the same issues as the business directory.

The most proven way to get good Google ranks is to enlist in DMOZ, which people also call an Open Directory. This however can not hasten the process of Google picking up your site. In fact it can take weeks, even months to get listed in DMOZ. This is because a category editor personally evaluates every site that is submitted and it all matters where in the line your site is located. One advice in this regard is that if you are thinking of submitting to DMOZ, study and follow their guidelines carefully before submission.

You could also submit articles to the relevant sites and get indexed by Google. Mostly all important and successful article sites would allow the author to add a small resource box called 'About the Author' or 'Author Resource'. It is here that you add the critical link to your site.

One of the great advantages of writing meaningful articles is that other sites use them in their sites. They must carry the 'About the Author' section below your article so that you access a free link to your own site. That's another chance for Google to find you so if your articles are relevant to your business then you will probably find they will push visitor traffic to your site as well.
