Time is the most important factor when you are trying to increase the rankings of your website. I am constantly receiving questions from curious individuals regarding the SEO program, however, the one I get most frequently is How long till I start to see results?" This article is dedicated to anyone who has ever asked that question.

It doesn't matter which techniques you follow, in all case you will be prisoner of time. Search engine rankings don't come over night, in the vast majority of cases.

You will have to wait no matter what the details of your SEO campaign you are involved in is. Even if your campaign is large, it will still take some time to get results. Just how long you need to wait however, will depend on a large number of factors.

How long it will take for rankings starts with a few key factors.

If your website is not optimized and the navigation is blocking search engine spiders, you can increase your ranking by opening up your site a little more.

Having an old site woth no links will increase the time you need to wait. Google is quite quick at checking for new content, they usually take a look within a week of updating.

You have to wait when you have a brand new site. Google may find you, but probably not. In order to compete with a new site, you need a few links, and an XML sitemap. Otherwise, your site might not be indexed.

Determine how flexible any content management system is prior to using one for your website. It can drastically slow down your ranking progress if it not allows SEO based changes.

A more competitive target phrase means that you will need more fresh content, pages, links, and patience. The selection of the target phrase that has seraches, but modest competition is your best choice to get started. You can go after the bigger fish once your site has some links.

Take a look at the top 10 sites for your target phrase. If on average the ranking sites have 10,000 inbound links and 1000 plus pages, and your site has 7 links and 12 pages, you're likely doomed. If the top 10 is littered with all the big guys like Amazon, eBay, and the dreaded Wikipedia, you might just want to consider reevaluating your goals.

If your site is not in a comparable position with the rest of the top 10 then you need to either step up your efforts in order to compete, or plan on waiting a very long time.
