History of Smart Liposuction

By Art Gib

Over the years, liposuction has evolved to the point it is at now. At one time, it was a procedure for the rich. Wealthy people would disappear for a few weeks and come back to the social circuit thinner than they were when they left. Now, liposuction is more inclusive. The prices have dropped dramatically, and the procedure is much safer than it was in the past. That means more people are now turning to liposuction as a way to get the body they want.

As more people get liposuction, it is losing the stigma that was associated with it at one time. There was a time when people were embarrassed if they got the surgery. Now, friends talk about it over lunch.

Following the presentation and several medical journal articles the procedure found its way to the United States where several physicians experimented with the procedure. It was from these experiments that several variations emerged.

The wet technique was introduced and it made the surgery much safer. It cut down on the amount of bleeding, and also made the recovery time much shorter. Basically, the cannula no longer attacked dry areas of fat. Instead, a saline solution was applied to the fat in order to moisturize the fat and make it safer to remove. It allowed the process to go much smoother than it had in the past.

This method helped people lose fat, but it also had a lot of risks associated with it. There was a great deal of blood loss, and it became apparent that a different method was going to have to be developed if it was going to be a widespread procedure. Most people were not willing to put up with the pain, let alone the great risk.

Patients are able to get numbed on the areas that are receiving the surgery and therefore stay awake during the surgery. The complications associated with general anesthesia were thus eliminated.

The new procedure called for the area to be saturated with saline and anesthetic. The results offered a great deal of hope for the medical community. Less bleeding occurred and finally people did not have to be put to sleep when undergoing the procedure. This was a great development in regards to the surgery.

This process allows for less bruising and swelling, which means it does not take as much time for patients to recover. It is just one of the options available for those who are looking into liposuction.
