The 19th Annual Cultural Crossroads Festival, presented by the Ethnic Heritage Council, will be held at the start of November for 2009. The location will be at Crossroads Bellevue, at ME 8th at 156th Ave. NE in Bellevue. The best ethnic entertainment will be featured in the festival, as well as an international bazaar, and a craft show. Admission is absolutely free.

The celebration of a mix of cultures will feature a selection of entertainment; around forty performances are slated to happen annually on ethnic music and dance. This year, some performances would be the courtesy of the Academy of Cuban Folklore and Dance, Enzian Schuhplattler for German traditions, Joyas Mestizas representing Mexican culture, the Bokreta Hungarian Dance Ensembleand and some others. Everyone gets a free tango lesson on Friday night from Patty Leverett and Greg Thompsen. On Saturday, House of Tarab will perform traditional Arab music.

The Cultural Crossroads Festival has maintained its place as the most popular event in the annual calendar of fairs and festivals. There are cultures that represent Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and North America in the craft show with twenty booths each. Each booth will feature both imported and handcrafted trinkets from all over the globe.

Bring your children along! They won't be bored with the many exciting activities meant specifically for them this year. Of these, the most interesting would be the Lego display. Imagine a showcase with models representing the culture of many nations, all in the form of Lego. Another exciting event specially made for kids would be "Folk Art for Kids," a coloring activity just for the little tykes!

This festival will take place just as November begins. I'll be at the craft show, relishing the sights and sounds of the cultures of many nations through their art. So that's it and I'll see you there once Halloween is done!
