To a traditional network marketer, attraction marketing can be very frustrating. The traditional network marketers work very hard to generate interest using offline methods and the online attraction marketers are siphoning off these leads online by the hundreds. How are they doing this?
In Ann Sieg's latest report, The Attraction Marketer's Manifesto, she freely admits that attraction marketers are taking advantage of the hard work of millions of traditional, non-Internet MLMer's. They are basically scooping up leads by the thousands...leads that were generated by hard working, old school network marketers.
Attraction marketing seems to be a popular term amongst network marketers these days and so before diving in and uncovering the tricks used by attraction marketers, I thought it would be useful to define what it is...
Attraction Marketing As Used By Network Marketers
The process of attracting prospects to your business opportunity rather than approaching them is the basis of attraction marketing. Most attraction marketers use the Internet to do this.
Many network marketing companies teach their distributors to make a list of friends and family and approach them one by one. Attraction marketing teaches the opposite. You still build a list but instead of approaching people, they are joining your list voluntarily. Many people are doing attraction marketing because they don't like the idea of approaching friends and family to build their business.
Typically people using attraction marketing will lead with a free offer such as an ebook or video course. After the free information they will then offer them a low cost course about building a home based network marketing business. If the prospect finds the information valuable, they will view the marketer as someone that can be trusted.
Selling an expensive product is sometime called a self-liquidating offer. The whole purpose is to acquire a customer for future sales. In network marketing circles it's often referred to as a funded proposal. Basically you make a little money selling the inexpensive course and get to propose your business opportunity to a qualified lead.
Attracting prospects with free information and then leading them through a sales process that leads to a network marketing opportunity is the basis of attraction marketing. It is an extremely effective concept but unfortunately for old school network marketers, it puts them at a very big disadvantage.
How attraction marketers are mopping up thousands of leads as a result of traditional network marketers hard work...
Here's the problem for traditional network marketers -- A recent Jupiter research report found that more than 25% of people they studied have cut back on watching TV...so they can spend more time on the Internet!
The Internet has become the research method for more than 70% of Americans. When they have a buying decision to make the Internet is the fist port of call.
Internet savvy MLMer's understand this trend and are using it to their advantage with smashing results. When you showed someone a business opportunity before the Internet, they only had access to the information that they were given.
Google is the first place people go when they get told about a business opportunity these days. What is happening is the traditional MLMer's are getting people interested enough to do some research but what happens after that is out of their hands.
To illustrate, consider if someone was told about the Agel MLM business opportunity. They would go to Google and start running some basic searches. They may type in terms such as; 'Agel business opportunity', 'Agel success stories', 'is Agel a scam' and so on. Smart marketers know exactly what people are searching for and deliver the perfect message to match. They may write an article with the title, How to build an Agel business in less than 1 year.
When the prospect sees those kinds of ads they are going to be interested...
... and so they will click on the message and before they know it, they are on that person's mailing list.
The prospect will then get a series of messages over the coming weeks that talk about how to build a mlm business without chasing friends and family. They may decide to invest in an ebook or course from this person. Once a prospect has gone down this road it may be very difficult for the traditional network marketer to win that prospect back, even though they introduced them to the concept in the first place.
The next step is that the marketer that sold them the course will follow up wit a telephone call. Before they know it, the prospect will be thinking;
"I love the idea of building my home business without having to chase friends & family. I've got to work with this person so that they can show me how to do it!"
There are even some attraction marketers that use controversial messages to hook a prospect into their sales funnel and as there is no rules against this, as they say..that's life. If you visit a mlm forum you won't have any trouble finding a thread were people are complaining about how bad these attraction marketing methods are, talking about the fact that they are "pinching THEIR prospects".
Complaining about this changes nothing, attraction marketers will continue to pick off hot leads day and night. I can almost guarantee that if you are not using information marketing to attract new prospects into your mlm business things will get very tough.
What's The Answer?
Well, as they say, if you can't beat them...join them.
Some people are calling this period of time the modern day gold rush -- with corporate America in turmoil and the global economy looking very uncertain, people are flocking to the Internet looking for alternative ways to make a living. There has never been a better time to learn the skills of Internet marketing so that you can position yourself as someone who can help these people get what they are looking for.
